Meilani’s life in Hawai’i falls apart when the skyrocketing cost of living, high rent, and low wages force her and her mother to relocate to Phoenix, Arizona. The Maui-born surfer and Instagram influencer experiences a severe case of “reverse seasickness” in this desert city. As she struggles at her new high school, she finds unexpected lifelines from an unlikely trio: a quirky kid in the library, an overprotective guidance counselor, and Jered—a boy who might just give her a reason to anchor down.
Lawrence (he/him) is a multidisciplinary stage and filmmaker involved in over 100 productions since 2013. He is excited to return to 21ten for their summer residency as a playwright and director. You may have seen him in Rainbow Passage (as Kumar) at 21ten. Recently he designed sound and projections for Brown Face and Worry Dolls at Milagro. He is a resident artist at Milagro and Bag&Baggage Theatre, where he directs, acts, designs sound and projections, and composes music. He has also worked with Oregon Children’s Theatre, PassinArt, and CoHo Theatre Originally from San Diego, Lawrence pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Dramatic Arts (with a directing emphasis) from San Diego State University and studied film editing and marketing at the University of Southern California.
Cassandra Pangelinan (she/hers) is extremely excited to present this new work for you! One of Cassandra's favorite ways to make art is in the creation of original works. You may have seen Cassandra in FUSE Theatre Ensemble's production of Assassins. She has also worked with the Chapel Theater as Professor Hidgens in The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, and in The Broken Planetarium's original show The Greenbrier Ghost as the titular character. At the end of August, Cassandra will be portraying Mariela in Undertow, as part of The Hatchery - a new works festival presented by Many Hats Collaboration.

Khayry Gonzalez (she/her) is Mexican/American citizen. She is a first-year college student attending Portland Community College, where she is studying for an Associate’s Degree in Arts. Her passion for theater started onstage, and with the hope of being a professional performer in the future, she enjoys her backstage trajectory as a sound tech and as a stage manager.
